I’ve heard of buttered coffee, or Bulletproof Coffee, (which is supposed to be a great Keto diet recipe) and off course “Butterbeer” made famous by the one and only Harry Potter but I’d never heard about buttered Gin. That was until earlier this week when I overheard a conversation at the school gate (I know!). After a quick look online, it seems to market itself as a warming alternative for these cooler nights so, I wanted to give it a go and see if it was enjoyable enough to replace my current fav (no spoilers here as it will feature later on in the month).
50ml Dry Gin
10g unsalted butter
A dash of Nutmeg (ideally freshly grated)
1tsp Fresh Ginger grated (less if you prefer a milder flavour)
50ml Apple juice
25ml Sugar syrup (Monin’s is great)
25ml fresh Lemon juice
Melt the butter and Gin together over a low heat. Add the spices and allow to steep whilst the mixture cools is a small container. Once cool enough, place in the fridge until the butter has solidified. Pour off the remaining Gin (you may need to strain out the spices and ginger).
Then combine the buttered Gin with the Cider, Apple Juice, sugar syrup and lemon juice. This is best served warm with a cinnamon stick stirrer for a final flourish.
